Fundamentals of Food Hygiene

Who is the course for?

Fundamentals in Food Hygiene is a comprehensive course which is appropriate for anyone who involved in the preparing, cooking, or serving of food.  High standards of food hygiene are imperative to prevent food poisoning, loss of productivity and to ensure the utmost welfare for both staff and customers. 

What will you learn on this course?

  • The importance of food hygiene and how it contributes to food safety
  • Understand the current legal responsibilities placed on food businesses
  • Identify how food poisoning occurs, and the symptoms and consequences
  • Outline the role of micro organisms in food borne illness and spoilage
  • Appreciate the need for personal hygiene, infection control and good food handling practices
  • Know the methods for cleaning, disinfection, waste and pest control
  • Identify food hazards and understand food safety management controls needed
  • Awareness of your responsibility as a food handler

How long does the course last?

The course is completed in just one day and is assessed by a 40 minute multiple choice exam.

What will I achieve?

After successful completion of the exam, you will obtain an national accredited certificate.  The awarding body is the Royal Society for Promotion of Health.

What is the course price?

£60 + VAT per student.  This includes coffees and tea, examination fee and textbook.
